Imran Khan has accused Raajneeti director Rahul Rawail of using his fiancée Avantika for publicity. Imran was responding to reports published in The Times of India on June 7 that stated that his fiancée Avantika had openly mocked Raajneeti during the filming of the movie in a Mumbai theatre. Director Rahul Rawail, who was sitting right behind Avantika expressed his annoyance about the same on a social networking site and then to a magazine.

Imran has responded to the Director’s statements in a local newspaper saying that Rahul wanted publicity and was therefore accusing Avantika of lambasting the movie. Imran said that Ranbir and he were on very good terms. However going public to deny something that had happened in a theatre with a Friday movie-going crowd, doesn’t look good on Imran. Infact he should have asked his fiancée to apologize to Rahul, for mocking his film and disturbing his piece of mind during the screening. To suggest that the Director had done all of this to get on the front pages of magazines, is a very scathing remark on Imran’s part.

Rahul Rawail is a Bollywood veteran, who started his career by directing the movie Love Story (1981) and then went on to produce several hits like Betaab (1983), Arjun (1985),  Dacait and Anjaam (1994), to name a few. Although the Director has not been able to give out as many hits as his earlier promise, but to suggest that he would be using the fiancée of a young Bollywood star for publicizing his movie, is a little naïve on Imran’s part.
