The assembling part of this Light Combat Aircraft, the LCA (Navy) NP1, was done at Bangalore itself by Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).

After the roll out, there will be series of integration testing carried out on ground. These include ground runs, taxi trials and flight trials. If all the tests are successful then it will be ready to fly by the end of 2010. This aircraft will finally be placed on Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC), which is being constructed at the Cochin Shipyard and will be ready by 2015. Thus it will go completely under the navy then onward.

The making of the LCA began after receiving sanction from the Government in the year 2003. Initially the development constituted the design and fabrication of the ‘Trainer’ and ‘Fighter’ named NP1 and NP2 respectively. Also Shore Based Test Facility (SBTF) was incorporated. This part of the development took place at Goa naval air base.

Other than the Defence Minister, Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma will also be present on the roll out on Tuesday. He will be the chief guest for the event.
