The Wall Street Journal cited saying that US Software Leader Microsoft Corp is upto the plan of laying off a small number of jobs as early as this week.

The Journal further said that how far the size of job cut could be is not understood yet. Anyhow, the scope of the latest job cut is far smaller than about 5,000 cuts announced last year, a person familiar with the matter told the paper.

The person told the Journal that the layoffs are consistent with small reductions in staff the company has done in the past and are expected to be made throughout the company.
