It was really a gloomy moment when police of Ghaziabad and officials of Punjab National Bank were informed that recently filled PNB ATM had been tempered and a heavy amount of 64 lakh allegedly had been wiped out.
It has been reported that, a sum of 64 lakh has been stolen from two different ATMs, 53 lakh and 11 lakh respectively, of Punjab National Bank half an hour after they were filled, with cash worth 54 lakh and 22 lakh respectively, on Saturday evening. After the incident the Ghaziabad police are interrogating the officials of Punjab National Bank’s Modinagar Branch.
Speaking to the media persons, Mr Capt M. M. Baig, SP (Rural) said that money could not have been withdrawn without knowing master code, which was divided into two parts and given to two officers, of the transaction machine as there was not a single tempering sign or sign of force on the machine.
Reportedly, Mr Praveen Ranjan Singh, Circle office, said that four employees of Writer Safeguards, the firm which deposited cash in the PNS ATMs were prime suspect. He further said that the four employees were identified as Shashi Shekhar, Ravi Ranjan, Deepak Tomar, and Madan Pal.
While describing the situation of the ATMs he said that one, out of two of CCTV cameras was dead and foot prints showed that a man entered in the cabin wrapped himself in blanket in such a way that face could not been identified.
He further added that four employees were detained and investigation was going on.
