Later, he deliberately mispronounced Dikshit’s name, saying “Dick Shit” was “so appropriate” because she is an Indian.

The entire New Zealand has criticized these remarks of the host and even TVNZ chief Executive Ellis apologized to the Indian community in New Zealand and India, and said he will apologize to the Governor General in person.

With this resignation of the host, New Zealand Prime Minister Key said that this will bring closure to the matter. Well, Mr. Prime Minister, let India decide what will end this matter!

The 60 year long awaited case judgement is all set to be made public today by 3:30 pm on the website of Allahabad High Court. The country has been blanketed with the security forces in order to check any untoward incident that may erupt after the pronouncement of the verdict.

This dispute has been running for last 60 years for a 60ft by 40 ft land in Ayodhya where the Babri masjid stood till December 6 1992. Since 1950, five title suits have been in the Allahabad High Court, staking claim to the title of the plot of land of the Babri Masjid. Of these, four are to be decided by the Lucknow bench of the high court and the D-day is today itself which will definitely change the future of Ayodhya.

The Centre has asked the state governments to check and curb any action that would hamper the law and order of the state. The state governments have also been directed to be on high alert in the wake of the verdict. Nearly, 1.9 lakhs Para-military forces have been alone deployed in Uttar Pradesh.

For other parts of the country, government officials said the Centre had placed paramilitary forces at 16 locations — half of them near Indian Air Force stations — to enable quick movement of forces if an emergency break out.

However, Home minister P. Chidambaram is confident that there would be no trouble after the judgement. He also said that he did not foresee any problems as almost all political parties , religious groups and those associated with the dispute, have said they would respect the verdict of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.

SC defers Ayodhya verdict delay appeal

The Supreme Court bench, which sat to look the matter of deferring the Ayodhya verdict filed by former bureaucrat Ramesh Chand Tripathi early today, refused to hear the plea. The matter has been delayed and will be looked upon by another bench as per report of the sources.

The bench consisting of Justices Altmas Kabir and A K Patnaik said: “It is a civil suit. We have no jurisdiction over it.”

The bench directed the matter to be listed before the appropriate bench.

With just two days left for the verdict to come, Mr. Tripathi had filed a petition in the Supreme Court which asked the bench to defer the verdict till the Commonwealth Games end.

Moreover, the petition also has drawn attention of the court on the fact that the number of paramilitary forces to control the unexpected fall backs in the sensitive area was not sufficient as most of the security forces are busy handling situation in Kashmir, Bihar Assembly elections and the Commonwealth Games.

The apex Court was approached by Tripathi five days after a three-judge Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court rejected his petition for deferring the verdict.

The High Court had also imposed “exemplary costs” of Rs 50,000 terming Tripathi’s effort for an out-of-court settlement of the dispute as a “mischievous attempt”.

It seems that the verdict will come on 24th September and the Centre government has asked the State Government to deploy security in order to avert any acts that destroy law and order.

After France, Italy says ‘No to Veil’

As per the anti-burqa bill tabled by Italy’s anti-immigrant North League Party, wearing burqa in Italy will be punishable by a year in prison, fines of 150 to 300 Euros for the wearer and 30,000 Euros for anyone forcing a woman to don the face-covering Islamic garment.

Following the footprints of France, where the law has become that woman will be fined or jailed for covering their faces in public; Italy is likely to ban the wearing of the veil by Muslim women.

Carolina Lussana, Northern League Member of Parliament, said that the bill represented a step forward because it not only creates a problem of Public order but also is an offence to women’s dignity.

She also said that as per law constituted in the constitution, it is violation of the principle of equality between men and women.

The copy of the bill which was handed to the reporters also read that anyone coercing a minor or a disabled woman into wearing a burqa will be eligible for a 60,000-euro fine. Moreover, if a woman wears burqa of her own volition then 150-300 euro fine imposed on her could be only reduced if she agreed to do community service aimed at better integrating Muslim immigrants.

However, the bill is likely to face criticism from Muslim immigrants in Italy but as per report of the survey that was conducted recently by Panel Data, nearly 73 percent of Italians believe the burqa should not be allowed to be worn in public places.

In the wake of the proposal made by the Human Resource and Development minister Kapil Sibal to bring reforms at the higher level of education in the country and to make IITs at par with other global institutes, Digvijay Singh appeared to snipe the HRD minister by asking him to concentrate on school level rather than higher education.

Digvijay Singh, a senior Congress leader, reiterated the fact that the need of the hour is the improvement of the level of education at school level rather than college level.

“HRD ministry should pay more attention to the development of school education at it greatly affects the literacy rate of the country. Skill development centres should be given special care as it can bring small job to those who cannot afford higher study” were the words of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister.

He also said that he had full faith in the government that they would ponder about the existing condition in school and skill development centres and will definitely improve their condition.

Moreover the proposal made by the HRD minister yesterday for replacing multi entry-level examinations by the single aptitude test has been opposed by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

The IITs were against the idea of completely scrapping their Joint Entrance test. Also, there was no consensus on a single entrance examination— National Aptitude Test (NAT) — during a meeting of the IIT Council in New Delhi on Friday.

However, almost all IITs favoured giving more weightage to standard 12 examinations and allowing only the top students of each state to take NAT. So, it seems that the implementation of this idea is likely not looking possible from present remarks.
