The email claiming the responsibility for the deadly bomb blast in the holy city of Varanasi on Tuesday evening surfaced today from the suburb Vashi in Navi Mumbai. The email was traced to the Wi-Fi connection of Akhil Talreja who is a Disc Jockey (DJ) in Mumbai.

However, Talreja on interrogation by the Police said that he was innocent and his Wi-Fi network was hacked to deliver the terror email. Shocked by the incident, Talreja insisted people to have a password for their account.

Sources have confirmed that the email was sent through an unsecured Wi-Fi connection of the Airtel broadband and in regard with that Police immediately picked up father and son to question in connection with the email. Although the two were later released.

Unsecured Wi-Fi connections became the means of communications of the terrorist group through which they sent mails to media houses within minutes of the blast taking place that killed an infant and injured 37 people.

The used email ID was of Gmail and the mail was written on December 6 in the account that was rarely used. The speculation of the hour is that the email was sent from an ID that belongs to a little known group called Al-Fateh, possibly a front used by the Indian Mujahideen (IM) to mislead investigators.

IM in the mail said that the explosion was in response to the latest Ayodhya verdict. High alert has been issued across the region following the blast.

The high airlines fares have come down by 20-25 percent in comparison to last week’s fare as the pressure from the Ministry of Civil Aviation mounted on domestic airlines.

As per report of the official sources, it was told that the mounting pressure by the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) against exorbitant airfares had been a success.

Last week, the lowest last minute Delhi –Mumbai fare which had climbed Rs17000 has been brought down to the range of  Rs5,000 to Rs20,000 on economy class ticket, while that on Delhi-Chennai and Delhi-Kolkata stood between Rs 5,000 and Rs 15,000, the officials said.

However, despite of the lowering of the fares by 20-25 percent the fares are high in comparison to the last year’s airline ticket fares. Sources have reported that the lowest available fares at the same time last year was about Rs 3, 000 for Delhi-Mumbai and Rs 4, 000 for the Delhi-Chennai and Delhi-Kolkata sectors.

The newly appointed head of DGCA E K Bharat Bhushan and his predecessor SNA Zaidi, Civil Aviation secretary, over the last two weeks held deliberations with the airline representative to bring down the fares. DGCA had a formal meeting with officials of the no-frill carriers IndiGo, Spicejet and GoAir, yesterday following a directive asking all carriers to explain the high fares they were charging. They are likely to meet the representative of full service carriers Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher.

The airlines had earlier proposed a price band for tickets based on distance with a maximum price of Rs 24,000-Rs 40,000 a ticket for distance more than 1,400 km.

The whistle blowing site WikiLeaks today revealed that Pakistan’s terrorist Organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) had planned to kill Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi nearly 6 months after the attack on Mumbai. The site also leaked Pakistan’s intelligence reports which included discussions to carry out the attack that took place between Pakistani handlers and Indian members in June last year.

Sources have reported that the terrorist organization was working on three major tasks in India just after a six month interval from Mumbai’s attack. These planning included the assassination plot of Indian minister, setting up of terror camps in South India and US intelligence inputs that are part of a leaked diplomatic cable. The third task was related to some work involving a car but the WikiLeaks cable did not provide the detail regarding that.

The cable released by whistleblower site read: “Shafiq Khafa, a LeT member was possibly planning for three major tasks to be accomplished in India. Another India-based accomplice in the task, Hussein, continued operational planning on three tasks in early June. The tasks were to disturb India with a possible operation against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the establishment of a training camp and an unspecified work related to a car.”

The cable further said that Hussein would accomplish these tasks by coordinating his activities with an India based colleague identified as Sameer.

The WikiLeaks cable carrying the name of Narendra Modi dated 17 June 2009 is definitely the reason that would make us worry if the leaked cables on Afghanistan and Iraq failed to excite us.

Turmoil in Andhra cabinet yet again

Just an hour had hardly passed when two ministers of Andhra Government sent their resignation to the newly elected Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy around midnight on Wednesday after the allocation of portfolios triggered rebellion amongst the council of ministers.

Two ministers namely- Vatti Vasantha Kumar and Komatirddi Venkat Reddy as per report of the sources have already sent their resignation to the Chief Minister. Sources clarified that just few hours after swearing-in; the new Tourism Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar has submitted his resignation. Vasantha Kumar was not happy with the Tourism portfolio he received in the new cabinet.

One of the senior leader even asked chief minister that whether he wanted the congress party to survive in Andhra Pradesh or get reduced to its 1994 status when it won only 27 seats and could not even become the main opposition party.

Sources have reported that the apple of discord was that all the revenue earning portfolios were allocated to ministers belonging to the Reddy community while those from the backward classes were given ‘insignificant’ (non-revenue generating) portfolios.

In the new cabinet, 14 berths including finance, agriculture, major irrigation, health, municipal administration and panchayat raj were given to Reddy’s while the BCs were given just about 10 and that too not very important.

The chief minister reportedly conveyed through Aanam that the portfolios issue could be discussed at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow but the sulking ministers were in no mood to relent. He also contended that some major ministers were given ‘less important’ portfolios due to corruption allegation on them.

The proposal regarding the 300 percent hike in fare has been made by IndiGo, SpiceJet, Jet Airways, JetLite, GoAir and Air India (Domestic).

However, the general travellers can hold their breath for now as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is unlikely to give its nod to the new fare structure proposed.

The Civil Aviation Ministry demanded an explanation from airlines on proposed airfares submitted by them.As per report of the reliable sources; it was told that Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said that there would be no exorbitant rates for passengers travelling by air while responding to the proposal given by airlines.

He further said that DGCA is looking into the matter and assured that the decision will be taken in the favour of ‘Aam Aadmi’ and there will be no exorbitant fares.
