A train accident occurred in West Bengal when two trains, the Uttarbanga Express from New Coochbehar and the Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express collided with each other at the Sainthia station in Birbhum district early Monday.The accident has left at least 50 dead and more than 89 people injured.

The cause of the accident is said to be because of human error. The Uttarbanga Express had overshot a red signal before the station. The Uttarbanga Express was arrived at a high speed and the Vananchal Express from Bhagalpur to Ranchi was running several hours late.

The Vanachal express was standing at the platform when the Uttarbanga Express hit it from the rear. The impact of the crash was such that a coach was sent flying to a high flyover bridge. Three coaches were destroyed really badly due to to the crash.

Rescue workers have started rescue operations in the place. They are using gas cutters to open the coaches and rescue the injured and bring out the dead. Till now, 15 bodies have been recovered but officials says that at least 50 people could be dead.
