The whistle blowing site WikiLeaks today revealed that Pakistan’s terrorist Organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) had planned to kill Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi nearly 6 months after the attack on Mumbai. The site also leaked Pakistan’s intelligence reports which included discussions to carry out the attack that took place between Pakistani handlers and Indian members in June last year.

Sources have reported that the terrorist organization was working on three major tasks in India just after a six month interval from Mumbai’s attack. These planning included the assassination plot of Indian minister, setting up of terror camps in South India and US intelligence inputs that are part of a leaked diplomatic cable. The third task was related to some work involving a car but the WikiLeaks cable did not provide the detail regarding that.

The cable released by whistleblower site read: “Shafiq Khafa, a LeT member was possibly planning for three major tasks to be accomplished in India. Another India-based accomplice in the task, Hussein, continued operational planning on three tasks in early June. The tasks were to disturb India with a possible operation against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the establishment of a training camp and an unspecified work related to a car.”

The cable further said that Hussein would accomplish these tasks by coordinating his activities with an India based colleague identified as Sameer.

The WikiLeaks cable carrying the name of Narendra Modi dated 17 June 2009 is definitely the reason that would make us worry if the leaked cables on Afghanistan and Iraq failed to excite us.
